Service Description

Join us for our intermediate rock climbing course in the idyllic Gap of Dunloe. The main aim of this course is to learn how to be a safe belayer, how to second routes and how to belay a lead climber. You will also develop your climbing movement skills and learn how to place protection and construct belays. Experience required: -Completion of 6 Week Introduction to Rock Climbing Course or -Have logged 10 routes indoor or outdoor and 10 belays of a fellow climber What you can expect to learn: - Background and Planning: choose a suitable venue, how to use guidebooks and mobile devices to find crags and routes and crag etiquette - Climbing Skills: Warming up and avoiding injury, developing movement skills and widening your repertoire of climbing moves. - Footwear and Equipment: Climbing shoe fit, selecting the right equipment for improved performance and an introduction to climbing protection. - Technical Skills: Building anchors, selecting runners, ropework, belaying, holding falls, lowering, seconding a route and personal abseiling. -Environmental Knowledge: The impact of climbers at the crag, ethics, access and environmental considerations. -Hazards and Emergency Procedures: Identifying hazards, managing risks when climbing, abseiling and bouldering, understanding common injuries, how to get help and the role of Mountain Rescue. What to bring: -Appropriate clothing and footwear -A packed lunch and adequate drinking water -We also recommend that you bring a waterproof outer layer and a dry change of clothing as there is always the possibility of rain...it is Ireland! All of the necessary climbing and safety equipment is provided.

Cancellation Policy

We cannot offer refunds for cancelled bookings. Should you cancel one week before the course starts, we can offer a full credit note to be used towards a future booking. Should we need to cancel the course due to harsh weather conditions, we will do our best to reschedule and if its not possible a refund will be issued.
